Seeing Pink

We just want to let everyone know that we went to the doctor today and got to see our little baby girl! I have to admit that I was a little shocked when the technician told us the sex. There have been so many people tell me that they are sure we are having a boy, and I haven't had any idea, so I just figured eveyrone must know something I don't. I have to say, seeing some of the positions she kept putting herself in were making me laugh a little. When we first started the ultrasound, she was folded completely in half with her feet up by her head, her legs as straight as a board. Lily is naturally very excited to have a little sister, although she also thought it was going to be a boy before today. I have to admit, I feel a little relieved, since I know how to handle a girl. We can't wait to meet her next spring! Yeah!!

A Little Disappointment

So I know many of you, like us, were hoping to know today what we are having... but apparently we weren't supposed to know today, because both the ultrasound machines (the main and backup one) weren't functioning today. They asked us to reschedule for thursday afternoon. Hopefully it goes off then without a hitch. Either way we'll let you all know as soon as we find out! Promise ~ even if that means the day it pops out...
Keep your fingers crossed!

Vampires and Snow White

Don't be frightened, everyone. We didn't get attacked by vampires this weekend. This happens to be my brother-in-law Casey. We went down to St. George this weekend to see him perform in Odessey Dance Theatre's yearly Thriller show. It was so awesome! Casey talents were showcased in a lot of dances this year too, which was fun to see. He was a vampire in "The Lost Boys", the mummy in "The Mummy's Curse", in an MJ tribute, and in more that I can't remember right now because I lost my program. It was actually really cold down there, so I'm glad Casey gave us a heads up about that. It was nice to have a blanket and gloves since Tuacahn is outdoors. Great job, Casey!!

This is our little devil on her way to our ward party

We got back from St. George early Halloween evening, so we hurried and got Lily ready for trick-or-treating and were off. She was a beautiful little Snow White, while I was a witch and Tobby a blind referee.

After trick-or-treating, we went with Scott and Sherry to visit the poor working folk at the mall. We visited Jodie and Kris for a while before heading home for a good night's rest. All in all it was a successful Halloween!

Autumn Leaves

It has been really cold this last week, so we got a good chance to test out Lily's coat she got from Grandma and Grandpa Clark, (thanks guys). She also got a rake from my mom, so she wanted to go outside and help rake up all the leaves. Unfortuneately for my mom, she only helped for about 30 seconds and then wanted to go run around the yard and play in the leaves, including messing up all the piles. Even though it has gotten a lot colder, I love this time of year! It's so beautiful and fun. I hope it lasts a little longer before the snow settles in.

Second B-day Party!

Lily's birthday was really fun and low key. We got together at Scott and Sherry's house for cake and presents.

I decided to be ambitious this year and make Lily's cake instead of buying one. For those of you that know me, I am not a huge baker, but I really wanted to do something extra special for her. I made a two-layer rainbow chip cake, filled it with vanilla frosting, covered it with vanilla frosting, and decorated it with crazy core skittles (they are the best kind, by the way). Even though it didn't look perfect, it tasted really good.

Lily opening her presents

After opening presents, we sang to Lily and did the whole birthday cake and ice cream thing. Lily ate the skittles off the cake and left the rest to me, (thanks honey (: ). We had a blast, but I still can't believe it was two years ago that Lily came into the world! People tell you that it goes by fast and it really does. If it keeps going at this pace, she'll be graduating high school before I know it. Love you Lil! I'm glad you had such a happy day!!

A Cornbelly Birthday

For Lily's birthday this year we really wanted to take her somewhere really fun since she is at that age where she can actually enjoy herself and play. We decided to take her to Cornbellys, which is a smorgasbord of different activities at Thanksgiving Point. My parents, Tobby's parents and Jodie all came to join in the fun and we had a wonderful time.

Everyone loved to jump with Lily on the giant pillows

Isn't she a cute little piggie?

Lily loved the pig races but almost missed seeing them every time they came around.

Scott sponsored a goat during the goat race. His goat "Harley Hog" won this race. Go Harley!!

This creature was a little too intimidating for Lily. She tried it out, but decided she'd better leave, it wasn't for her.

This was Lily's favorite thing there! It was a sandbox, but instead of sand it was filled with corn. She kept trying to eat it, since corn is her favorite veggie, but soon learned it didn't taste very good.

This castle was a coloring area. You could either color on paper or on the tables, walls, etc. I made sure to write a little "Lily was here" before we left.

In princess playland they had this bouncer and you could dress up like a princess and take a carriage ride like a true princess.

The Pumpkin Princess was there to greet us at the beginning of the kiddie corn maze. Lily went right to her and was not shy at all. When we left the maze, Lily kept going over to her and blowing kisses and saying "bye". It was cute!

Lily on the cow train

Lily also loved the slide mountain. It was a mountain of hay with about 6 slides at the top. We were there for about an hour going down slides.

We topped off the day with a birthday cupcake which Lily gobbled down.

Thanks to everyone that came! We're thinking this might be a birthday traditional since we had so much fun. It was definitely very memorable and even if Lily doesn't remember it as she grows up, we will!

Happy, Happy Birthday Lily Dear

Okay, I don't really have much time with the computer since Tobby has lots of homework, so I am just going to tease you with a little birthday video and you'll have to wait for the rest later.

Whistle While You Work!

It's definitely fall here in Utah and despite the cold, Lily still loves to play outside. Her favorite thing to do right now when we go outside is to immediately run to the garage, grab the broom, and start sweeping the road. I joke that she is practicing for her Halloween debut as Snow White!

Lily is excited to finally be able to wear her winter hats again. The one she is modeling here was made by Grandma Stone and Lily looooves it!

I love this time of year. Even though I'm not really a fan of the colder weather, I love the smell of pumpkin roll, the changing colors of the leaves and the fun holidays that we have to look forward to. Hopefully we'll get a little more fall before the winter comes!

Best. Anniversary. Ever.

This year for our anniversary, Tobby really went above and beyond and surprised me with a little getaway. The night before our actual anniversary, he told me that we were going somewhere but that it was a surprise. I thought maybe we were going to a play because we had talked about several that we wanted to go see in the near future, but then we started heading up to Salt Lake. I thought again, "Maybe we're going to Kingsbury Hall," where they put on some plays and dance performances. But then he drove us to an old Victorian style home on the corner of South Temple and 700 East, so I was really confused. As we walked in, I realized that we were at the Anniversary Inn and I was so excited! For those of you that don't know what the Anniversary Inn is, it is a bed and breakfast whose rooms have different themes like the Enchanted Forest Room, Sultan's Palace, Mountain Retreat, etc. The room that we stayed in was called the Mysteries of Egypt and it was obviously decorated with Egyptian statues, hieroglyphs, and even had a waterfall that fills up the jetted tub and a shower that comes from a cobra's mouth. It was awesome!! We haven't ever gone somewhere by ourselves overnight since Lily was born and it was a much needed getaway. I recommend it to anyone. Also, the ambiance of this place helps you to escape reality for a while.

The little alcove where we had the best breakfast croissants and cinnamon rolls ever!! Oh, and cocoa!

The next night Tobby and I went to Iggy's with Lily and Casey, who was visiting from St. George.

Lily enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs

My little cuties!

We then headed over to the SCERA indoor theatre for a production of "Into the Woods" which was pretty good.

Tobby, thank you so much for the best anniversary ever!! I am so happy that was have been married for the past six years and that I have such a thoughtful, loving best friend and husband!

Naptime Shmaptime

The other day, Tobby and I happened to both be home during Lily's nap time and after putting her down, we decided we were tired enough to also take a group nap. A few minutes after we settled down in our bed, we heard Lily making a little commotion in her bed and then all of a sudden we heard a harmonica playing. We thought maybe someone else in the house was playing close to her room, but soon discovered it was actually Lily, who had grabbed the instrument through the slats in her crib from her toy bin. Eventually she went to sleep, but when her nap was over and we went to get her, we found this in her bed:

She had actually pulled all her toys into her crib, including the bin! I was secretly a little proud of her ingenuity, so I had to take a couple pictures.
Besides pulling things into her bed, she has been trying to get herself out of bed lately. The other day, she was "playing" in her crib and starting making a distressed call to me. I naturally stopped what I was doing and raced to her room, but right before I got there I heard a thump and crying. I immediately knew that she had fallen out of bed. She was fine except for a scratch down her arm and a bumped head, but she was pretty shaken up. After a talk about not getting out of bed without someone getting her out, we had her try to duplicate her actions and she couldn't. So, I'm hoping it was a fluke and we can keep the big-girl bed at bay for a little while longer. I'm not sure I could ever teach her to stay in a bed without any bars at this point. We'll see what happens and hope she doesn't want any more bumps and ouchies from her daring independence.
